Pop classic will herald new year at UK showpiece
Wednesday November

LONDON, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Tunes by the Beatles, Queen and Robbie Williams are among contenders for the last song to be played at London's Millennium Dome before midnight on New Year's Eve, organizers said on Wednesday.

The New Millennium Experience Company, which runs the Dome -- centrepiece of Britain's year 2000 celebrations, said the winning title would be a rock anthem that everyone knew and could sing the words to.

Spokesman Gez Sagar said the song would be played before Queen Elizabeth opened the Dome minutes before midnight.

The full list is John Lennon's ``Imagine,'' ``All You Need Is Love'' by the Beatles, ``Millennium'' by Williams, Pulp's ``Disco 2000,'' Prince's ``1999,'' Queen's ``We Are The Champions,'' ``Don't Look Back In Anger'' by Oasis and ``It's Only Rock And Roll (But I Like It)'' by the Rolling Stones.

Sagar said the song could be decided at final rehearsals on New Year's Eve.
